Hunziker Jones & Sweeney is a law firm that can be compared to a tree. With its predecessors it has existed in Paterson and Passaic County for over l00 years, during which time its lawyers members have been community leaders and stalwart participants in various civic and charitable projects, as well as in many family decisions and business and banking enterprises that have formed the pattern of local life.

The roots of our firm extend back to Gustav Hunziker and Edward Merrey, prominent Patersonian attorneys, each the founder of a law practice with his son, Walter Hunziker and Edward Merrey, Jr., respectively. In the last 20 years these firms combined, supported by a third generation of lawyers, Walter Hunziker, Jr., Robert Jones, Susan E. Champion and James Romer. The long history of this combined law practice has provided moral strength, client loyalty and longevity, and professional stability to its practice.

All of this firm's lawyers have spent their lives in North Jersey, centering on Paterson and in recent years in West Milford and Wayne. Mr. Hunziker was the founding counsel for Lakeland Bank, extending the firm's banking branch which had helped lead Alexander Hamilton S&L Association and Franklin Bank to prominence years before. Mr. Jones has served as Planning Board Counsel during years of development expansion in West Milford. All of the firm's attorneys are members of the New Jersey Bar Association and the Passaic County Bar Association. They complement each other and, working together, form a strong collegiate whole, all contributing to serve the firm's clients.
